Many EV's have gone to the J1772 standard recharge plug. I still use a common RV plug because all my power comes through an extension cord.
This is how I originally mounted the pick-up sensor for my tach. Problem was, the motor gave off lots of EMI to interfere with the tach signal.
I moved the sensor away from the motor and put a steel plate between the sensor and motor. Now the tach works perfectly.
