The Blue Mule - Page 8

2008 Adventures:

Trying to reach Tin Cup Pass Parked at North Fork Reservoir Testing out using the trailer An empty engine compartment
  • The Blue Mule is seeing lots of road time as a commuter-car pool vehicle these days.
  • June found us trying to reach Tin Cup Pass, which was still snowed in at mile 4.
  • Our next little jaunt was to North Fork Reservoir. On the way down, we were snowed on.
  • I decided to test out pulling the trailer. Unfortunately, it became obvious that some engine work needed to be done.
  • We pulled out the engine and had the head planed and the valves replaced. That really did the trick!
  • In August, we took a trip up to Aspen Ridge with "Bobicon"
  • Then we really decided to test out the Blue Mule and took a trip up to St. Elmo, Hancock, Hancock Lake, and almost all the way up to Mary Murphy Mine.
  • Our last August trip was an exploration of the south side of Twin Lakes and then up to the boundary of the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness. Now, that was a rough rode!
  • But, the piece de la resistance was the CFFC 2008 Fall Color Tour!
