  • The Blue Mule, a 1952 Willys M38, was assigned to Camp McCoy, WI.
  • The US Army sold the jeep as surplus in the late 1960's.
  • In July 1972, I purchased the jeep from Broderick's Truck Yard in Dixon, IL, for $700.
  • From July to Oct, the jeep occupied  my parent's two-car garage as I tore it apart and put it back together.  Strange, I had parts left over!
  • In Oct, it was finally running, but it was not until Jan 1973 that it was really ready for use.
  • From Jan 1973, until Aug 1974, the Blue Mule took me to school and work.
  • We had many adventures, including parking on snow banks in the school parking lot.
  • After I left for college in Aug 1974, it served to provide transportation for my 3 sisters.
