Here's Kate during her semi-annual jeep rebuilding inspection tour. Since she's smiling so big, she must have enjoyed the joke I wrote on the bottom of the toolbox cover.

welding
These were the final hat channels that I needed to weld under the tub. As you can see from this picture, I still need lessons in smooth welding. But, with a little bit of grinding and a little bit of paint, all of this will look as smooth as it should.

This shows some of my preparations prior to spraying the undercoating on the floor. You can see where I used JB Weld on the floor to seal up pinholes, rust pits, and rough welding.

I only needed a bit of JB Weld on the driver's side floor. Everything below the blue tape will be sprayed with undercoating.

rubberized undercoating 01
I spray painted the entire floor, both front and back, with Dupli-Color rubberized undercoating. Since this is going to be a working jeep, on a Colorado Ranch, and I expect that tools and dirt and barbed wire will be constantly bouncing on the floors, this undercoating will help prevent the floors from getting scratched and rusting. Its a thin enough coat that all of the details in the steel, like rust pits, will show through. This is paintable, and will be painted with the body color.

I painted the inside of the wheel wells, where sand and gravel and mud will be thrown by the tires, for the same reason I painted the floor. This should protect the steel from rusting for many years. This photo includes the spray can that I bought the undercoating in. It took one full can to do both of these wheel wells.
